How to control your anger

Someone once told me never to take a decision when I'm angry because there is no way you can think straight when you have lost it.

Here are some great tips to help in controlling your hanger culled from wikihow.com.

1. Take a break as soon as you recognize that you're angry. You can take a break by stopping what you're doing, getting away from whatever is irritating you, and/or just taking a breather. Getting away from whatever is upsetting you will make it infinitely easier to calm down.
  • Remember that you do not have to respond to a situation immediately. You can count to 10 or even say “I will think about it and get back to you” to give yourself additional time to cool down as necessary.
  • If you're angry at work, go to a room or step outside for a moment. If you're driving to work, consider sitting in your car so that you're in a space you own.
  • If you're upset at home, go to a single-occupancy space (such as the bathroom) or for a walk or go for a walk with someone you trust or that can help you.
2. Breathe deeply. If your heart hammers with rage, slow it down by controlling your breathing. Deep breathing is one of the most important steps in meditation, which can contribute to controlling emotions. Even if you do not fully “meditate,” using deep breathing techniques can offer similar benefits.
  • Count to three as you inhale, hold the breath in your lungs for three more seconds, and count to three again as you exhale. Focus only on the numbers as you do this.
  • Be sure that each breath in fully fills your lungs, causing your chest and belly to expand. Exhale fully each time, and pause between the exhale and the next inhale.
  • Keep breathing until you feel that you have regained control.

5 Steps To Breaking Poverty Trend In Your Family

Step 1
Begin with your mind

Everything about you starts from your mind. Your attitude, your actions, your in-actions, the way you talk and many other things about you emanate from your mind. Your inner thought process determines how you set your priorities, goals and things that matter to you. Do you know that the things that shape our believe system and mind are things that we encountered when we were growing up and experience everyday? These experiences are so powerful that they unconsciously set barriers and limitations for us.

To liberate your mind from the shackles of poverty, you must first create a high level of hatred for poverty and anything that resembles it in your mind and around you. Get rid of limiting thoughts like: People like me can't get that, people like can't be rich, my parents are poor, I have a poor background, I did not go to the university, People like me can't get such high paying job.

Limiting thoughts can only limit your progress as a person and make you live a life of mediocrity and in perpetual lack.

Before you can breakthrough this "mind jail" You need to start changing your inner communication. By asking questions that you have never asked in the past. for example: who says I can't make $1 million in one year? Who says I can't be the best in my chosen field? Who says I cant go back to school? Who says I can't learn a trade and move it to heights that nobody has dared before? Who says I cant live in the eyebrow area of the city?

To liberate your mind you need to start filling your mind with positive thoughts everyday and questioning everything that looks like a barrier. Tell yourself you are not going to settle for less that your mind is rich and so is your reality.

From today, don't entertain any thought that limits your progress or that are contrary to the questions we asked in the last two paragraph above.

Step 2.

Be the best at whatever you do

Do you know that after taking care of your mind and making sure you get rid of limiting thoughts and limiting habits you also have to programme yourself for excellence?

Excellence is a global language that anybody anywhere understands. Do you know if a street cleaner is the best at it he might end up becoming the best and might be employed to be the one sweeping the Aso Rock Villa or even given opportunity to oversee people doing same? That is what excellence does! It brings you to the fore front and a level where it is hard for your contemporary to compete with you except they are also excellent.

Working hard and being the best at it cannot be overlooked in any environment where the people are thinking right.

Tell yourself today that you will be the best at what you do and you will not settle for mediocrity.
I must tell you that trying to be the best may take a long time. It is a process and to achieve this, you must live a life of continuous learning so that you remain the best in your chosen field

Step 3.

Set a life goal

Your goal is the big picture and the ultimate. for you to break free from the shackles of poverty you must have a clearly written goal or goals. Goals are like painting the ideal picture of your desirable future on a sheet of paper.

Without goals, you are going nowhere! I mean nowhere!

Have you seen a bus at the bus stop filled with passengers and heading nowhere? Wont you find it funny if you enter such a bus and ask the driver where he is headed and his response is nowhere or I don't know? This is how many people live. They have no plans for tomorrow and beyond. They prefer to leave everything to fate and luck.

This is the one of the reasons why many people live in abject poverty. They don't plan for the future. No goal set, They believe in what will be will be.

Set goals that are clear, concise and believable to you. This works like magic when you exercise high level of discipline and follow your goal list one after the other.

Before we proceed, I want you to pause for a moment. Think about where you see yourself in the next 5 years.

Take a notepad or a piece of paper and write down things you need to do to be that person you really want to be.

I will talk about how to set goals in my upcoming post

Step 4.

Get the your association right

There are two things that would affect where you would be in the next five years; the people you meet and the books you read. To break free from poverty you need to understand the power of association. People are so powerful that a journey of 10 years can be shortened to 2 years if you know the right people.

To meet the right people or people who can help you move up in life, you need to be a man of value thinking of adding value to these people will go a long to create a long lasting impression that you also have some values you can add to them.

Don't just go and meet people with the attitude of taking. Think of what you can give.

You meet people by attending events that are related to your area of interest, volunteering, joining a club etc.

Wherever you meet them, be sure to be ready to give something first and try not to create an impression of someone who has come all the way to take.

Step 5

Learn from successful people

Do I need to say much about this? One of the ways you can be successful in any area of human endeavor is to learn from people who are successful in such area,

Model what they do, copy their strategy, their thinking, their habits, go to where they go, read the books they read, attend the same school or training they attend and you will become like them - successful!

This five steps are not enough to get out of poverty but they are sure steps to get you started.

I would recommend you visit any bookshop nearest to you and buy materials that address this topic.

See you at the top!

How To Ask For Salary Increase From Your Boss

Asking for money is never an easy thing to do — and it may be especially awkward at work.
But if you've been going above and beyond, or you realize you're making less than the average worker in your position, it's time to ask for a raise.

Here are seven tips for asking for a raise you'll actually get:

1. Do your homework.

Before ever speaking with your boss, research the market value for your job to figure out what someone in your position with the same level of education and years of experience typically gets paid, and where your salary falls in relation. "Look for what companies typically pay, not what you need to survive on," Donovan says.
She suggests looking up your position on jobs sites like PayScale or Glassdoor; checking out the trade association for your industry; or speaking with a headhunter to garner a better idea of what the average pay looks like.

2. Don't wait.

Start preparing your research the minute to realize you're not getting paid enough. Don't wait for your annual review or for your boss to to start the conversation. "You need to ask for it or you won't get it," Donovan says.
